Camp ASCCA

Camp ASCCA was a great field trip for everyone! We had a great time in nature, hanging with friends, and making new friends. It was an amazing experience, and I hope many have the same fun time for years to come.

Day 1

Bethany (left) and her classmate fishing on the dock at Camp ASCCA.

I started out my ASCCA visit meeting up at the parking lot. From there, we went to our cabins and got our schedules. Then we went to teambuilding with our counselor, Amber. She gave us brain teasers and teambuilding games that challenged creativity. We then went to our amazing dinner of Papa John's pizza, and got to go on a scavenger hunt. Our group won and got stickers! To end our day, we went to this place that looked like a haunted house from the outside. But the inside was actually an arcade, called the "bck4T"! It was so fun, and we got to watch a movie there. Then we went to bed and said goodnight to our friends.

Day 2

We woke up bright and early to get ready for our next day. The first thing we did was go to say the pledge at the flagpole, and eat breakfast. Then we went to the bungee trampoline. We had a great time jumping! We got to go really high, and we went on a competition to see who could jump the highest. After that, we went to forestry. We got to touch a snake, a turtle, and bird-watch. After that, we went to lunch. We had leftover pizza and burgers. It was a little rainy after lunch, but it was okay, because we got to play games in the gym. We then went fishing. We got in this People Mover to get there. The counselors helped out a lot. I caught a pretty nice catch! After that, we went to living streams. Going through all those bugs was really cool! But, we had to leave early, because there was thunder. We got to play games in the gym while it was raining, though. We went to dinner after that, and went straight to karaoke. Karaoke was definitely one of my favorite experiences at camp. Everyone got up and started dancing and yelling the lyrics to the music. After a long, but fun night, we went to bed. It was a tiring day!

Day 3

To begin our last day, we went to flag raising and ate breakfast. Our group then went canoeing! Our counselor gave us the briefing, and then sent us off to canoe. It was very fun and relaxing! Then we went to my favorite activity of all, the ziptower! We began by putting on our harnesses and climbing up a rockwall. It was pretty hard, but if you go into it with confidence, you'll be fine. And what goes up must come down, so we flew down that zipline. After that, we were pretty much done, so we packed up and got in our cars. We had a fun time talking to our friends in the car about our amazing trip!
